Choose a small set of heroes that gives you different ways to help a team. Use this guide to identify what you want to practice: holding space, finding an angle, protecting a teammate or timing a utility tool.
Balance and team-ups change
NetEase's May 22, 2025 balance post changed several hero and team-up interactions. Its December 9, 2025 post added a Luna Snow ability and changed more team-ups. These are dated examples of why an old recommendation is not a live ranking. Check the game client and official update feed before relying on exact mechanics.
Vanguard examples: space and protection
Magneto
Practice protecting a teammate during a crossing and choosing when to pressure an opponent. Time defensive tools around the crossing and keep a position from which you can support the next exchange.
Doctor Strange
Plan a portal or defensive position around where your team can follow. Check both ends of a route before committing the group to it.
Hulk
Practice entering a fight with support nearby and a route back to your team. Disruption is useful when it creates space that someone can use.
Venom
Track your defensive cooldowns before diving. Plan your return path instead of assuming you can outlast every opponent through health regeneration.
Captain America
Work on deciding whether the fight needs pressure on an opponent or protection for a teammate. Mobility should connect those jobs rather than separate you from your team.
Thor
Practice choosing short exchanges and recognizing when you lack the resources for another commitment. Coordinate pressure with your team.
Groot
Use walls to change an approach or isolate a fight, while checking that you are not blocking a teammate's line of sight or escape.
Peni Parker
Practice setting up around an objective and adapting when the fight moves. Adjust the setup to the space your team is trying to hold.
Duelist examples: angles and target selection
Spider-Man
Practice an approach, a target decision and an escape as one sequence. Mobility does not make an unsupported dive reliable.
Hela
Work on controlling an angle from cover and repositioning when enemies contest it. Choose shots that support the fight rather than chasing a damage total.
Iron Man
Think about what can contest your position before taking an aerial angle. Keep a route toward cover and your team.
Black Panther
Practice the order and timing of your movement tools before committing to a target. Watch for defensive responses and available follow-up.
Scarlet Witch
Use pressure to help your team contest useful space. Choose ultimate timing around cover, opponent attention and available defensive tools.
Moon Knight
Look for positions that let you apply pressure without exposing yourself to several angles. Practice placement and target choice in the client rather than treating him as only a single-target duelist.
Storm
Consider how your position affects both your team and the opponent's sightlines. An aerial position still needs protection and a plan to move.
Namor
Practice protecting and placing Monstro Spawns to cover an approach. Think about cover and enemy approaches when choosing a setup.
Star-Lord
Work on tracking targets while preserving room to disengage. Choose an angle that contributes to the objective fight.
Hawkeye
Practice sightlines and a fallback position before taking a long-range duel. Move when an opponent closes the distance or blocks the angle.
Psylocke
Plan where you will enter and leave an exchange. Use information about enemy defensive tools rather than committing simply because mobility is available.
Winter Soldier
Practice selecting a target and following up with your team. Look for a moment when teammates can act on the same target.
Squirrel Girl
Work on projectile placement and pressure around a contested route. Evaluate your own results across maps instead of treating an old tier position as a verdict.
Strategist examples: sustain and utility
Luna Snow
Practice balancing support for teammates with opportunities to pressure opponents. Check the current ability descriptions for how each tool supports that choice.
Loki
Place illusions with attention to sightlines and enemy pressure. Plan an ultimate around the fight you are in, rather than assuming a copied ability guarantees a reversal.
Mantis
Track the resources and defensive tools you need to support the next exchange. Stay where teammates can help if a flanker approaches.
Rocket Raccoon
Practice positioning healing and support equipment where the team can use it. Check B.R.B. and any active team-up directly in the client before planning a setup.
Invisible Woman
Practice placing protection where a teammate intends to fight, and keep a route to cover. Repositioning is useful when it preserves your ability to support the group.
Adam Warlock
Consider where a revived teammate will appear and whether the position is playable. Resurrection does not remove the need to assess a lost fight.
Jeff the Land Shark
Practice supporting teammates around cover and choosing safe movement routes. Positioning and timing matter more than whether a lobby is labelled low or high rank.
Cloak and Dagger
Learn the purpose and restrictions of each form's utility. Choose a form according to what the next exchange needs.
Build a pool around the team's needs
- Cover a missing job: Talk about who will create space, provide sustain and contest an exposed angle. A fixed role count is not a guarantee of a useful composition.
- Check the active team-up: Confirm the partners and effects shown in the client. Old team-up descriptions can become wrong after a patch.
- Swap with a purpose: Explain what the new pick will solve, and account for the cost of changing heroes during the match.
- Review your own decisions: Look at engagement timing, positioning and objective contribution over several matches. Do not turn a small streak into a universal hero ranking.
